Leftwich out in Jacksonville

Leftwich

Jacksonville head coach Jack Del Rio announced today that David Garrard will be the starting quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars for the 2007 season.

That leaves incumbent starter Byron Leftwich without a job … at least temporarily. Several teams are rumored (by the media) to be interested in Leftwich’s services, including Atlanta, Minnesota and Kansas City.

According to ESPN’s John Clayton, the Jaguars will attempt to trade Leftwich until early next week. If no deal is done by then, Clayton expects the Jags to cut Leftwich.

… This also gives us a chance to introduce a new (and fun!) feature here at The Hazean. Let me be honest … I love what they do at I CAN HAS CHEEZBURGER? and LOL Jocks. So I thought it would be cool to incorporate some of the same hilarity here at The Hazean. I plan to set up an email account soon for reader questions and picture submissions, so stay tuned for more great action from The Hazean, and thanks for reading!

  1. This is/was a surprise but anybody who has watched the Jags a lot the past three or four seasons (I watch all the games I can) know that Leftwich is a serviceable starter but he’s not the winner who will take the Jags to the next level. Is Garrard? Maybe not but at least he deserves a chance as the unquestioned starter. At this now the Jags can play this year out and they’ll know whether they’re starting from scratch at QB or have their man in Garrard.
